Key message image

I began my career in the building industry, and it was during this time I developed a passion for helping people improve their lives, especially older people, inspired by the time I spent with my grandparents. Before joining Bishop Selwyn in December 2024, I worked in the retirement sector for five years.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my large extended family, including children, grandchildren, and two cavadoodles. We love fishing in the Marlborough Sounds, boating, and exploring New Zealand’s outdoors.

We have a range of care options available at Bishop Selwyn, and strive to ensure all our residents live a fulfilled life while they are here with us.

Kathie Gould

There is a genuine sense of belonging with our communities being well integrated.

We are proud of our comprehensive activities programme, which caters to the needs of our diverse residents. Residents, family, and friends are encouraged to stroll through our tranquil garden setting, which has many restful areas.

From Monday to Friday a daycare programme also operates from our rest home.

Our approach to care

At Alden, we believe that all our elders deserve compassionate, trusted and respectful care, no matter their means or background. Our nurses and caregivers offer personalised care backed by industry-leading qualifications and training.

Premium room charges

Premium room charges apply to rooms with enhanced features, a private ensuite, a more spacious room or a desirable location within the facility. These charges cover the extra comfort provided, and are separate from the basic care and accommodation fees, which are typically covered by the government subsidy or the resident’s funding.
